Star Gas (Petro) Offers Standby Generators from GE Generator Systems

8- to 60-kilowatt1 standby generator units to be carried exclusively in more than 40 locations

MILWAUKEE (August 1, 2013) —Furthering its commitment to delivering customers the best in home comfort service, Star Gas Partners, L.P., the nation’s largest retail distributor of home heating oil and parent company of Petro Heating & Air Conditioning Services, is offering an innovative line of premium standby generators from GE Generator Systems in more than 40 locations throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.

"Star Gas Partners, is proud to work with GE Generator Systems to offer our customers a range of superior products throughout our footprint," said Joe McDonald, V.P. of Sales & Marketing for Star Gas.  " Through this retail offering, we can continue to grow our reputation as the company to rely on for total home services that provide complete peace of mind.  It is also a logically related  product to add as we continue to grow our retail propane customer base."

Petro customers will be able to select any of the eight standby generator models offered by GE Generator Systems. Units range in size from 8- to 60-kilowatts1.

Standby generators are permanently installed and connected to a home's natural gas or liquid propane fuel source and can reliably power air conditioning, appliances, lights, TVs or computers. The units can also intelligently manage a home’s energy consumption when running on backup power.

Many units come equipped with the innovative Symphony® II Power Management System from GE Generator Systems. The power management system is a whole-home power solution that automatically controls a home’s electrical load during an outage. Home appliances are prioritized during system installation so that when an outage occurs, the system automatically powers the highest-priority appliances until the generator reaches its maximum capacity. Priorities can be adjusted easily as power needs change.

“Petro has a strong presence in hurricane- and power outage-prone regions of the U.S., where reliable backup power is often needed most,” said Amanda Grandy, marketing manager for Briggs & Stratton Standby Power, which is the exclusive licensee of GE Generator Systems. “GE Generator Systems will offer Petro customers greater access to state-of-the art standby generator technology and premium features like our Symphony® II Power Management System while providing peace of mind during a storm or power outage.”
